History of WSEKU
"WORLD SPORT EDUCATION KARATE UNION (acronym - WSEKU)"
(EESKU) European Education of Schools Karate Union came into being through the initiative of a small group of teachers / instructors on July 27, 2011 in Mamaia/Constanța, Romania. The establishment of the (EESKU) European Education of Schools Karate Union was a necessity stemming from the lack of an international karate organization that would focus on the educational side. All other world structures were interested in only one goal, competition. A fact that led to the triggering of a battle of interests at the national and international level, which is why the educational side was lost.
Although relatively young, our group has a particularly fruitful activity in the landscape of international karate, especially on the educational side through budo karate and karate-do.
On the occasion of the organization of the Shotokan Karate international summer camp, organized by the performance center of the Shogunul Oradea Sports Club with the support of CNKDASP-National Commission of Karate and Associated Disciplines of Pre-University Sports within the framework of the Ministry of Education, the 23rd edition of the Cantonment of training-Shotokan Internship "Summer Camp" in Mamaia July 18 - July 31, 2011.
Here was introduced the first international edition of the pilot program (the exchange of experience, at the level of pre-university education, regarding the education for excellence in karate, whose beneficiaries are students and young people capable of high performance) related to the need to establish new organizations of karate with an educational and scholastic character through (EESKU) European Education of Schools Karate Union which aims at the educational ideal of the karate school through the free, integral and harmonious development of human individuality, in the formation of autonomous and creative personality in the karate-do martial art.
The new pilot program of the training course in karate with international participation received a positive response from karate-ka from 5 countries: Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Brazil, who agreed to create the organization (EESKU) European Education of Karate Schools Union with international participation and assistance, the main objective being the educational part through the practice of budo karate and karate-do, with the objective of better organization and coordination of non-contact, light contact and semi contact styles (Shotokan, Shito-ryu, Goju-ryu, Wado-ryu, Chito-ryu, Isshinryu, Uechi-Ryu, Shorin-ryu) respectively the associated discipline of full contact (Kempo, Jiu-Jitsu, Kyokushinkai, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc.).
The purpose was to help and promote the educational (formative) valences of moral and psychological strengthening, training of students, the values of the discipline of Karate and Martial Arts, respectively to coordinate their activity both at the level of formal and non-formal education, less the side sports / competition.
The educational side was found very well in (EESKU), but in recent years the need to create a sports division was very intensively discussed. On April 15-17, 2022 in Băile Felix/Oradea, Romania, on the occasion of the international seminar, it was decided to split karate groups into two organizations: (WSEKU) which grouped most of the members from the old organization and those who decided to stay in the former (EESKU), a conservative organization with an outdated way of thinking for the modern era of the 21st century, it later dissolution because the purpose for which it was created was lost.
The World Sport Education Karate Union (WSEKU) was founded on July 19, 2022 and was born out of the dissolution of the European Education of Schools Karate Union (EESKU).
The World Sport Education Karate Union (WSEKU) continues the activity started in 2011 under the name of the European Education of Schools Karate Union (EESKU), with this name linking in particular the educational part through budo karate and karate-do.
The World Sport Education Karate Union (WSEKU) brought together 4 sports associations from Europe and one from Latin America at the first international edition of the pilot program on July 27, 2011. Currently WSEKU members and partners can be found in Europe, Asia, America, Oceania, Africa, the rise of WSEKU has experienced an explosion outside of Europe and not only in recent years, this was due to the fact that during the pandemic, the On-Line system gave us brought closer to each other through the virtual environment. We are referring to training, training courses and, not least, competitions, all of which are possible with computer-assisted training and on-line educational sports platforms.
